Blue is back

Last year Mary Kay revamped all their color cosmetics, introducing several new colors in the process. Several of them were blue.
...Hello? Anyone else remember the late 80's?
Blue! Not even my grandmother wore blue eyeshadow. Did you? Be honest now.
Well, I'm no longer ashamed to say it: Upon occasion, I've been known to wear blue eyeshadow.

Pretty subtle, right? It's all about technique & blending. ...and gadzooks, look at my very long hair!

Do the blue right, and it looks sultry & smoky. (Smokey?)

I think even my grandmother would approve.

In addition, I've switched to black brown mascara, a MAJOR switch from the jet black I've worn for 13 years. And it's life-changing, I tell ya.

O what a night!

I don't usually blog much about my Mary Kay business goings-on, but this one is too out-there to keep to myself!

Last night we had a big guest event in our area--an evening devoted to recruiting. I had 2 guests along with me, Kelli & Lois, who had been considering starting their own MK businesses. Now, among other door prizes, one of the big draws for prospective recruits was a drawing for $100 cash. 2 of them, actually. One drawing was strictly for the guests in attendance. The other drawing had lots more names... those attending guests, PLUS lots of non-attenders (We consultants could enter anyone we had given facials to in the month of May. That's a LOT! I alone did 34.).

WELL, (I'm getting to the point now.) I was especially excited about Kelli being there, because SHE was excited. I just met her on Friday, where she had her very 1st Mary Kay facial. We talked briefly about the possibility of Kelli starting her own MK business, and she was strongly considering it. She had arranged for someone to cover her shift at work, had dressed up for the occasion, and was really thrilled with the MK possibilities. Finally, it was time for the cash drawings.

The woman pulled a card out of the bag and said, "The consultant is Karen Adams..." (enter gleeful squeals!) "...and the guest is... Kelli!" Yay! She dashed up there to get her $100 bill. What are the odds, right?!? How fun!

Time for the final drawing. She pulled the card, read it, and stopped short. "You're not gonna believe it!" (silence.) "The consultant is Karen Adams... and the guest is Kelli! AGAIN!" Totally incredible. If I hadn't been there, I wouldn't have believed it.

After accepting her 2nd $100 bill, Kelli dashed back to our table and said, "Okay, give me that agreement form! Where do I sign!?"

I have a brand-new recruit. Kelli has a brand-new business, plus $100 to spare.
It was a good night.

To Do List

Nate & Olivia have been gone all weekend--since Friday afternoon, actually. Nate had an Herbalife conference in Chicago, and he took Livvie to spend the weekend with Grampy & Grammy. She has had a blast, I'm told!

Anyway, I've had an entire weekend to play around with, and let me tell you... I've done anything but play! I had a Mary Kay appointment Friday night & 2 on Saturday. It was a very productive weekend, praise the Lord! He is blessing the business, and I'm happily exhausted. Friday night I was up til almost 2, and last night til 1-ish.

I tried to nap this afternoon and couldn't, so I cleaned & dusted our bedroom instead. Nate has decided to stay the night tonight and come home in the morning. So I'll be going to work sans Olivia tomorrow, and they should be here when I get home! Then I have an appointment tomorrow night, followed by my last day of work on Tuesday. Tuesday night is my weekly success meeting for Mary Kay, and we're heading to Texas on Wednesday morning! Whew!

All that to say, I have a lot do to before our vacation! Here's my list for tonight:

1) Clean the bathroom. ...check!
2) Wash the dishes. ...check!
3) Scrub the kitchen floor. ...check!
4) Vacuum the living room. ...check!
5) Get Olivia packed (or mostly packed) for vacation. ...check!

And if I can get all of those things done and have energy to spare, I want to {finally!} at least start on my MK goal poster. I was encouraged to do this from the very beginning and keep putting it off. But I think it will really help me to stay focused, so I need to do it. ...check! (well, mostly!)

Well, it's nearly 9, so I'd better get crackin'! Keep me accountable here!

New Venture

Well, I'm going to insert a little shameless plug here for my brand-new business! I am now an independent beauty consultant! (sounds fancy, huh?)

I teach skin care and cosmetic techiques with Mary Kay. I'm a little nervous--there's a lot to learn! Hopefully I'll have my own rhythm established by the time Baby Girl #2 arrives.

I'm already making progress; yesterday a woman signed up underneath me to start her own business. I have yet to do a skin care class. I don't like them--I'm trying to figure out a way to avoid them altogether! :)

Wish me luck!

And check out my brand-spankin'-new website!
