Had a routine OB-GYN checkup yesterday; all is well. I heard the Bean's little heartbeat, which is always a great comfort, as I can't feel him/her yet. I lost an additional 2 pounds, which came as somewhat of a shock! Not complaining, though!
The whole appointment would've taken less than 5 minutes, were it not for the lively discussion/debate regarding the RhoGAM injection. For several reasons I declined it during my pregnancy with Olivia, with very little dispute. I've since switched offices, and WOW! They're really putting the pressure on. Any of you Rh- mommies out there have any input on the subject? Or good reading suggestions?

Karen-
i am sherry cole (syroteuk) nate and i went to college together...funny think you and i are due the exact same day. i have a strong christian dr. so the testing isn't even brought up unless you (the patient) bring it up. i was given about 10 brochures after my first apt and one was on testing and it hasn't come up again since. it will be fun to see you progress in your pregnancy and tell nate i said hello.
just so "happens" that I bookmarked this site back when I was pg w/Aaron. My mom was RH- so I assumed I would be too - but I am not. Here's the link. There are some natural ways listed to combat the possible complications.

So sorry your new office is giving you fits. Hopefully they are supportive on other issues that matter to you! Glad to hear good news of baby's progress!
I should mention that you would want to consult a dr. or naturopath before adding that number of supplements.
Also I should add that some of that info needs to be tossed b/c it is written by loonies. *grin*
I'm Rh- too. With my first pregnancy, I hadn't done any reading on it and got the Rhogam at 28 weeks, and ended up needing it after birth also because Sam was a positive blood type. (That pregnancy/delivery was with a midwifery practice in a hospital). With my second, I had a homebirth with a midwife. She didn't push the prenatal Rhogam, but gave me some info. on it and let me decide. We decided against it, knowing I could get it after the birth if needed. Julia ended up being negative also, so it wasn't an issue. I don't have any in-depth reading to recommend, but there is a small section about it (a couple pages) in "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" by Ina May Gaskin, which I'm currently reading. Actually, the whole book is really interesting and informative, and I'm learning plenty of new stuff even after having 2 kids already! (Just be aware that there are quite a few graphic birth pictures scattered throughout, if you happen to read it. :))
I hope your dr's office will stop giving you hassles about it. You can always look for a new practice if you're not comfortable with the pressure. :)
i've never heard of this. maybe it's just b/c my blood isn't affected, but i have never heard of it with either pregnancy. occasionally, when i read blogs of other nbbc moms i am reminded of how dumb i am. :) i really don't read much on the internet though b/c i'm more afraid that i'd get bad info. so that's probably why i have no clue half the time of what you girls are talking about. :)
boy, though, they should really lay off! especially if you're making an informed choice for yourself. and the fact that this is your second baby.
(this thing is giving me fits. sorry if i sent multiple comments)
I'm not Rh- so I've never done the homework on either side of the issue. I look forward to seeing what others say! Did you ever have any problems with Olivia?
I did get the shot. It was certainly in the best interest of Gage at the time. Because I bled early in my pregnancy, I had to have it very early. Perfect little boy as a result. Why are you opposed?
