How long did you have to supervise playtime between your rough-and-tumble toddler and your defenseless baby? In this house, I fear it'll be a very long time.
Don't let this serene photo fool you--it was taken seconds after I pulled Ellia off of her sister and unwrapped her arms from around Brienna's neck... for what seemed like the 1739th time that morning.
Sadly, Olivia isn't much better! How in the world can I teach them gentleness?

FOREVER!
our kids require constant supervision.
I was with a Mom today with almost the same age difference as your's and she did something amazing and it works for her.
She gives her 22 month son 5 minutes of baby sitting time after each meal and once before bed time. That means 20 minutes total each day.
She sets with him while he holds the baby, pats the baby, plays with the baby, and she said it has worked, when he gets a bit restless with the baby she tells him it's not time for baby sitting time and he'll have to wait until after lunch when it's his turn.
It was amazing, it really worked for them, but I have to be honest, I could not leave a baby and Brienna in the same room. NO WAY!
