Newsy News

I was thinking tonight that I haven't written in Livvie's book for a few months. (I have [had] been jotting down things in a spiral notebook...milestones, funny stories, foods, etc... My mom did it faithfully for years.) Anyway, I was just wondering if one day I can just print out all the blog posts about her and hole punch them! I don't see why not. Now I don't feel so badly.
Olivia is trying desperately to cut 2 teeth--the right front tooth and the one next to it. I don't know their proper names. She's had some loose bowels the last 2 days but no other symptoms. I think they'll pop through in the next day or 2. Once they're in, she'll have 5 altogether. We recently met a 13-month old with 13 teeth. Wow.
I'm struggling as to what to do about her too-long bangs. I'm not really a big fan of bangs (despite 9th & 10th grade photos that indicate otherwise), but she stubbornly refuses to keep a barrette or clip in for very long. Yes, it is most definitely a discipline issue, and yes, we are definitely working on it. Nate likes her hair wild and crazy, so for now I guess we'll just let it grow.
Livvie says "Mow!" whenever she sees or hears a cat. Her signing abilities have expanded to include the following words: Daddy, please, eat, more, drink, bye-bye, all done, duck, bird, baby (SO cute! I'll have to capture that one on video.), and dog. She does that one totally incorrectly, but we know that's what she's trying to say.
Just yesterday, she started doing a new gesture... not really a sign, although I'm sure she picked it up from me. Phoebe darted around the corner out of Livvie's sight, and Livvie held out both upturned palms and went looking for her. Very cute.
She also says, "Yeah!" (not to be confused with "yay.") The conversations go like this:
Daddy: "Livvie, want to eat?"
Livvie: (nods head vigorously, waves arms) "Yeah!"
Mommy: "Olivia, want to go night-night?"
Livvie: (same body language) "Yeah!" And she knows what she's agreeing to! After this conversation, she motions for her paci and lovey and tries to climb into her crib.
Daddy: "Olivia, ready to go bye-bye?"
Livvie: (signs "bye-bye") "Yeah!"
Olivia no longer likes to cuddle when it's naptime or bedtime. The ritual lasts a mere 20-30 seconds. Scoop her up, give her her lovey & paci, and by the time I get to her crib and give her a little pat, she's lunging out of my arms for her bed. Wow. Never thought I'd see the day. She's an absolutely perfect sleeper. (Kelly, don't be mad! I'm sure we'll get our dues someday!)
That's the update on Livvie! Hope the grandparents are happy! :)

Karen,
I feel the same guilt about not writing down Chloe's vocal antics. I did see online a program for turning your blog posts into a really nice book. I can't remember the name of the site . . .I'll have to get back to you on it if you're interested. I've seriously considered paying the money to do that since I think cutting and pasting posts would be a long and dreaded experience. How fun to hear Livvie's new words and see her signs! Don't worry, your good sleeper might just stay a good sleeper. :) Chloe sleeps like a rock and she never bucks bedtime.
