Ypsilanti Heritage Festival

This weekend is Ypsi's 29th annual Heritage Festival. It's a 3-day event, much like a fair. This morning Nate & I took Livvie there for a couple hours--she thought it was great!

Here's Olivia in her backpack, looking silly... and sleepy! She never did fall asleep, but she wanted to! Naturally, she konked out as soon as we left.

Part of the festivities is the Ancestors' Gathering, an attempt to re-create the times from the 1750's through the Civil War. We paused here to listen to some minstrels (their sign says "minstrals." Grr!)

This was a machine that takes corn kernels off the cobs. This cute old man sat there in his scooter and tossed corn cobs into the little chute. The kernels spilled into the white bucket, and the cobs fell into the red one.

This was a sawing machine.

This ducky was sitting at the Rubber Ducky Race. Olivia wanted it so badly.

We splurged and got this caricature of Livvie drawn. (The frame was ours.) She sat so well--the artist kept saying, "You're the easiest model I've ever had!" I think she captured Olivia really well.
