Low-key Independence Day

We had a quiet and uneventful day yesterday. We had wanted to go up north to Beulah, where Nate's dad grew up, but it didn't work out with his work schedule. That was kind of a bummer--his parents and Shannon & Justin went, and Ryan had plans, so we were kind of stuck. We both took a nap and worked around the house & yard yesterday... Nate mowed the lawn and put a new air filter in the Jeep. I did 3 loads of laundry, cleaned the bathroom, puttered around in the kitchen, etc. Then, we decided to pick up a rotisserie chicken & some potato salad and go to the park. And then, after Olivia went to bed, we just relaxed and watched a movie. We talked about going to see some fireworks, but Olivia's 8:30 bedtime prevented that. We didn't do any fireworks of our own, either... not even so much as a sparkler! It wasn't a bad day; it just didn't seem like a holiday.

How was YOUR 4th?

Our Fourth sounds pretty much like yours - really low key. Chris & I went & saw Transformers in the a.m. (tickets are only $4 then!), then had lunch with Chris' parents (who had Luke). We went home around 4:30 and did some packing and had cold pizza for supper. Luke was in bed at 7:30, and then Chris & I watched home movies from when Luke was born - so fun! I was hearing the fireworks go off outside; it was wierd not to be watching any.

Sounds like you had a productive day at home together! I love being a homebody and getting stuff done. Glad you didn't have to cook!

I know, I'm still debating about whether or not we should see fireworks this year. We have a neighbor across the street that does a huge show every year and he's planning on doing his stuff on Saturday night. We'll see . . .

Yours sounded a whole lot like ours. :) The rain prevented our fireworks, but it was nice just to be home.
